Alexandros Roniotis

Welcome to my personal website!

I am Alexandros Roniotis, a software engineer living in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.

I have worked as a Research Fellow at the Computational Medicine Laboratory (CML), Institute of Computer Science (ICS), Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). My research interests involved biomedical informatics and mathematics, medical imaging, in silico simulation of biological processes, tumor growth modeling and developing numerical methods for PDE solving. I have also worked with digital signal processing and pattern recognition.

Parallel to my research, I get involved in Website and Application Development for external customers. I also own a website about the Greek island of Crete,, which is today the most popular tourist guide about Crete. I have also published two editions about the beaches of Crete called Blue Crete.

I co-own a small startup company called DigiExplore which has launched the application My Crete Guide for smart devices, currently ranked first in Google and Apple stores among 200+ apps about Crete. The company also gets involved in content editing for external customers, such as the Region of Crete and the shipping company Minoan Lines.

Best regards,
